The Sierra Student Coalition is hosting a program called SPROG – a week-long organizer training program! Youth who attend will spend a week in an intensive crash course on grassroots organizing! Activities range from campaign planning, facilitation strategy, leadership skills, media work, and more! SPORG also has a strong emphasis on anti-oppression and environmental justice, and is run entirely by the young people in the community, mostly college-age and recent graduates, but it is open to anyone between age 14 and 28! There are three SPROGs being offered in the US this year, and one in Puerto Rico: · East SPORG – Courtland, VA, July 24 – 31 · West SPORG – Los Angeles, CA, July 17 – 24 · Central SPORG – Evergreen, CO, June 19 – 26 · Puerto Rico SPORG – Jayuya, PR, June 23 – 30 · The general application deadline is May 16th, but rolling applications will be accepted through July. Please reach out to Sally Bunner with any questions at 317-362-7222, or check out the Sierra Student Coalition website concerning SPORG here:
