RESULTS OF RIVER TRENDS SURVEY!

May 25, 2016

Georgia River Network‘s Chris Manganiello, Gwyneth Moody, and Keith Parsons just returned from River Rally 2016 in Mobile Alabama where they reconnected with over 450 other river enthusiasts, supporters, champions, and stewards from all around the world! It was an incredibly motivating event and so encouraging to see the innovations, creativity, passion, and dedication that these folks give to the restoration and protection of our rivers! But there is still SO much work to be done to clean up and protect our rivers!

CONCERNING RESULTS of RIVER TRENDS SURVEY!
River Network conducted a Trends Report titled: OUR WATER OUR FUTURE- State of River and Watershed Protection in which they surveyed 700 people who are engaged as professionals and concerned citizens in river and watershed conservation. The results are concerning given that only 36% of respondents indicated that conditions were improving for their waters. This left a significant proportion of respondents concerned that their waters were not improving (46%) or unsure about the state of our waters (19%).

One big take home message from River Rally, succinctly expressed by River Network President Nicole Silk, is that “We need a new movement for our water that unifies people to solve water problems and ignites the next generation of change agents. Our community is on a journey to embrace all people in our work and break down the barriers that divide and define us.”
